Beatitude
Beatitude
Almighty sought to illustrate
The character of His devout
As Rabbi gave divine mandate
On mount to quell the rampant doubt
Midst sermon Christ described the sort
Enumerated attributes
Of servant prime who doth comport
Evoked an image Lex imputes
Alexis typifies the best
Embodies each beatitude
Should Lexi’s good be ‘pon the rest
No selfish thought would have been strewed
Though others deem themselves above
Our Lex cares not for dominance
A spirit poor and quick to love
Is her’s the kingdom’s prominence
Acquainted well with charity
Thus Lex was drawn to healer’s trade
Where all she mourns with parity
Assured the comfort Lord hath made
Of haughtiness she is devoid
Content to change and take the blame
All prideful semblance doth avoid
An heiress meek with earth to claim
Removed from forces that corrupt
She seeks but that which edifies
A righteous hunger to be supped
This craving filled shall be her prize
Maternal role be greatest feat
Her patience trumps e’en that of Job
Extends to young her mercy sweet
Immersed in kind like furnished robe
Contention fosters no delight
Begs pardon be she right or wrong
This peacemaker doth stand contrite
Of Master’s daughters she’ll belong
Unswayed is Lex by worldly cares
Ambition led to husband sure
Unblemished wants in all affairs
She’ll see His face for heart so pure
At times she’s felt refiner’s flame
As some have strived to snuff her worth
For goodness sake they opt to shame
But her domain hangs over earth
Disciples of the mount remark
“Tis steep to fill just one of these
To count on all ye err to hark
For such would never leave their knees.”
Appeared a grin on Savior’s lips
“Though strenuous this charge may be
Let not it’s rigor feign eclipse
For there is one to meet my plea.”
