the little things

 I was out on the swing talking to mom when this beautiful cardinal came to visit.  He was probably the deepest red I have seen.  When he flew into the trees he was such a beautiful contrast with the dark green.  I thought about how on the anniversary of 9-11 where our world seemed so dark and confusing, this was a reminder to me of the beauty that is still around us even when the world seems in turmoil.
