Tuesday Tornado

A smaller tornado that Ginger witnessed from her porch.  Several were sighted but the worst one hit about ten minutes after this one.  She said it was the scariest thing she has ever heard.

Tuesday evening a F3 tornado tore through Salado where we used to live.  The biggest destruction was 1 mile from Ginger's house.  One family was at a baseball practice but the ten year old had wanted to ride the bus home from school and was alone.  They have horrible cell reception at their house but this time they were able to get a hold of the child and tell him to go get in the bathtub.  The only thing left standing in that house was the bathtub where that little guy was hiding.  Four people in one family were hospitalized and the mom lost her baby she was carrying.  They were in a trailer and the trailer was lifted and thrown around so much that those inside were thrown around.  A three year old girl had lots of broken bones and a head injury and the others were not as bad but still hurt.

Ginger has found so many peoples' pictures, bills, wallpaper all over her yard.  The cute little old Baptist church up the road was completely lifted and tipped to its side.  She found lots of hymnal pages.

We got a notice Tuesday night that we were under a tornado watch until 11 pm.  It got dark and rained al little bit but nothing severe in Georgetown.  I sent Ginger a text because it said it was heading to Salado and she said it was scary and that she and Wyatt were in the shower.  Paul joined them right before it got really bad.  They have a metal roof and the hail pounding that roof was so loud.  She said she just prayed and prayed they they would be okay.  They were but several homes were not.  They were without power for one day and the electric company thought it would be days if not weeks before it was restored.  They were going to come and stay with us but it came on the next night.  It just is amazing at how quickly life can change.  At 5:30 everyone was having a normal day and by 5:40, some people lost everything.
