Hope your week went well. Mom had her birthday, so that's awesome. Now you'll have to try out your birthday Glock at the range. As far as my end goes not a lot happened this week, so this might be a short one.
The best part of the week was all the member food we got. The Dominican family we talked to last Sunday let us drive by their house and grab some rice, beans, and chicken. That was awesome. They then offered to give us dinner sometime this week so this is the start of something beautiful haha. We also went to a drive by baby shower at the church parking lot and mooched some of the food and cake balls from that. We wanted to give them something for their shower, but we didn't have anything gift-worthy, so I played my best for them haha just kidding I offered to give them a subway gift card but they turned it down. They did accept our help with the clean up, so that was something. And sister Chicas gave us like 15 homemade tacitos that are sitting in our fridge. Super cool ward.
We had transfers last Monday, but we're all staying where we are, so nothing new to report there. We also got news that we can't go to the church buildings for anything other than to meet our investigators and have lessons or have missionary meetings, so no more chilling in the church buildings. This new rule hasn't hit us too hard, but I know a lot of companionships are struggling with this one. President also shared a message from Elder Bednar with us about developing Christlike character by looking outward even if our circumstances encourage us to look inward. This got me thinking about my New testament studies and I noticed something that's probably super obvious but I thought was really cool. I noticed that Jesus doesn't just do what we think a good person would do, he does things that are just inhumanly good. In our eyes a good man would defend himself if he was unjustly attacked by a bad dude. But Christ not only lets himself be attacked, but offers his other cheek. A good man might give a homeless person a few bucks, but Jesus wouldn't just give everything he has, but he would offer an entire life of service and friendship to this random individual. That kind of love has never been shown by any mortal man since the beginning of time. It's unimaginable. This isn't anything you guys haven't heard a million times already, but like President Hinckley said, "Love is the oldest lesson, and yet it never gets old."
As far as teaching goes, we are still teaching Lehi the 9 year old and he made it to the virtual church this week, so he is still on track for his baptism. We started teaching our favorite English student Saida some gospel topics and she is super willing to listen so that's awesome news. We also managed to include Celene's son in the last lesson we had with her so that was nice. We also had a guy named Ulises contact us about wanting a Book of Mormon, so we got that to him and on Sunday we had a video chat with him. He had a lot of questions, like a lot, as soon we gave an answer he would follow up with another one. I guess he has a catholic background, so he wanted to know the differences between the catholic church and ours. It went like that for like a straight hour which was actually cool because it's nice to meet people that have interest enough to ask questions. Sometimes I thought he was just messing with us cause he looked at someone in the corner of his room and started smiling, but were still hoping that his interest was sincere. We set up another call with him so that's good.
Other that that we did the usual Habitat for humanity service, and we packed up bags of food at a catholic charity. We also had district counsel in person again so that was nice. We also got a call from the bishop Saturday night, giving us a green light to got to church. Church in person was pretty awesome. We broke and blessed the sacrament, and that's always a spiritual time.
Today we did the usual stuff but we also played some tennis and skull king, so it was a good pday. That's about it family, sorry for the lack of pics. I did manage to get one of us with the district. Love you guys, see ya next week.
