Annual Easter Scavenger Hunt

So I thought we were done with the Easter poet
But nope, not yet, wouldn’t you know it
Still got 2 little chicks living in the nest
Who still want to hunt, just couldn’t rest
But, now you chickens are fully grown
Wont be long, you’ll be on your own
So lets get you prepared
With a few little tokens
Just don’t be scared
Or you might end up broken

Your first clue is here near our home
But not so far as the verdant loam
By a fairy tale creature from some old tome
I won’t tell you which, but it rhymes with chrome

Not bad, but that was an easy clue
Now we’ll see if your minds are true
To get there you’ll have to jump in a car
But don’t start crying, its not that far
You’ll be back soon watching the tube
To spend some more time in your little cube
Now its time to spread your wings
And go seek out some awesome things
Head on over to the house of prayer
And look around to see what’s there
Way out back, a mystery shed
Whats inside? Maybe something dead
Look around hard, for your prize to see
Maybe low, maybe high, maybe up a tree

Now for a stroll down memory lane
You’ll be forced to go despite the pain
Think back a few years, not much time
You were scaling a rock, starting to climb
Cops started running all over the place
Almost got printed and mugshots of your face
Trying to keep cool in the heat of the summer
Turned into a record, a bit of a bummer
Now you’re going back one last time
To the scene of the horrible, terrible crime
And sniffing around by a stinky place
Just for a clue in this Easter egg race

This one is is for Blake and his true Love
Their start was quite humble, maybe …sort of
He saw her blond hair through the oil scented air
And dreamed of her form, as she sold an eclair
They started going out, a crazy hot summer
Their hearts beat as one to a punk rock band drummer
Made out in the hallways to the delight of the crowd
Their parents tried to stop them, but they could not be cowed
Then the fateful news that two would be three
And to look for a job because babies aren’t free
So now we have Grey, that cute little guy
Sweet little dude, Handsome small fry
Now Blakes trying so hard to figure things out
Growing up too fast, earning his clout
A pilot, shooter, gun guy, ambitions eclectic
This week he’s thinking an expert electric
Good luck my young man in whatever you do
Just counsel the Spirit and let it guide you
For now just go back where your love got a start
And go to the counter where you gave up your heart

Started out the hunt at 600 degrees pizza!

Rick spent all day yesterday and today preparing for this hunt.  He has done this for over 20 years.

My table ready for Easter dinner tomorrow.
This ones for Caden and maybe his alter ego
It started with Spidey shooting webs ever we go
Marvel or DC, he likes guys who use stealth
Vaulting around in the dark, terminate villain health
Slade Wilson today, tomorrow Gannon Malloy
Watch your back dude, because this ninja don’t toy
He can move like Daredevil, loose like Green Arrow
Pass a blade like through butter whether shield or bone marrow
Corkscrew, b-twist, back full or a gainer
Flashkick or Webster, for him a no-brainer
Did a stint as an eagle, twisting up in the air
Amped up the guise for the next one to dare
Now he’s preparing for his next hero gig
This one is important, really quite big
Not saving the victim, damsel in distress
But leading a soul through this mortal mess
Pointing the way, to return back to God
Leaving home, hearth, and family to travel abroad
Our prayers are with you as I make an admission
You’ll be a hero to us as you serve on a mission
Now go back to your batcave, or hideout, or lair
And look hard for the clue that is hidden right there

This one goes out to our fat-fat delight
Who is eating a biscuit with all of his might
He has been a good pup for most of his days
Even if food is his unending craze
He started out feisty, e’en if now he’s a slug
He gave a snarl for a stare and a growl for a hug
But, something is wrong, he aint getting stronger
He is stuck on the floor and wont last much longer
His belly is practically dragging the ground
The profile has gone from oval to round
He will still be around for another few weeks
Then biscuits in heaven will be what he seeks
So if you can figure to give him a treat
An egg with a clue might be what you meet

Now lets consider our sweet little sister
So fluffy and sweet, KK will miss her
Excited to see us when we open the door
Pokes her butt in the air with her chest to the floor
Only one problem with our little sis
One tiny thing that no one would miss
That lil piece of poo that dangles from hair
We try to wish it away, but it doesnt care
So we deal with her dag to keep her around
And light up our lives from the floor or the ground
She would like to explore out side of the gate
But she is little and wimpy and so she must wait
To go and explore for a treasure trove
Right there in our very own olive grove

Good job! Great work!  You’ve gotten it right
With 18 years of practice you’re seeing the light
Time to finish this job, put an end to this quest
Rest on our laurels, end with the best.
Its not just by chance that we ended the race
In a grove like Gethsemane’s holy place
We do this each year on Easter you see
To remember the One who let us be Free
From death to our body and sin to our souls
He was beaten and scourged and punctured with holes
But he took that bitter cup and swallowed it down
Bleeding from pores and thorns on his crown
So this day you and I can hold our heads high
Cause He’s who we follow, He’s our ally
Just get on your knees, and he’ll be there for you
Listen to Him and you’ll find your way through

We love you boys!  Happy Easter
