We landed in Puerto Rico late at night and got to the resort around 10 pm. The flights were the scariest by far for me. So many rough turbulence that had some people letting out a scream. We survived and it was a whole new level of humid here!
We got up early Wednesday and walked along the beach. It was so calm and quiet. We met up with our tour group at 9 to go to the rainforest. We were with a group of 12 and there was an older lady from Florida with her husband but she was originally from Puerto Rico. She did not have a thought that was not expressed. Whatever the tour guide said she had a comment. She was loud, a bit crass and her language was questionable. She would have been fine in a small dose but we were with her for almost five hours in a van and all along the stops. I was quite ready to part at the end!

| These water shoes were recommended for the rain forest and they were brilliant. Rick had a pair too. They got wet and dried so quickly and had great traction. |

| I sent this to Ivy because when she was two and we went to Hawaii we took a boat out to swim with the manta rays at night. Everyone but Ivy and me were out in the dark water. She looked at me so serious and wagged her little finger back and forth and said, Gigi no swimming, Ivy no swimming. She wanted to make sure I knew she was not getting in that water. |
After we said goodbye to our tour group we went and grabbed dinner at a local establishment that had been recommended by one of our uber drivers. I got mofongo which is fried plantains that they use like potatoes. Mine had steak and mushrooms and gravy. So good, Rick got fish and just like the Dominican it came with the head and eyes still attached! We then took an uber to a cute little ice cream shop owned by this darling older lady. She was so sweet and she takes care of all the stray dogs/cats in the neighborhood. One dog had a damaged back leg and she fed him a special food and the rest got a big bowl of dry dog food. I mean she was so kind. We were worn out when we got back. The oppressive heat and humidity was very draining and made it hard to walk around. I thought we were prepared since we live in Texas but nope! The El Yunque rainforest was cooler and we were able to get in and swim and cool off. The greenery was breathtaking!
