| Elder Taylor (brand new) Brittany, Madi and Elder Bright |
Rick worked Saturday so he was pretty tired after church. He took a nap while we waited for Caden to get home from the YSA ward. He had to give a talk and he said he got some good comments so he thinks it went ok. I made pork tacos and German chocolate cake for his dinner. We headed to the baptism of Brittany and her daughter Madi at the stake center. I made choc chip cookies and brought fruit with Rick's coconut sauce. Caden helped the missionaries teach the lessons to them, so it was nice that he was here to attend. We got a group shot of everyone but it is on the elders phone so I will have to see if I can get it from them. Madi was joining the girls at girls camp this week so I hope she makes friends and has a good time. She is extremely shy! Brittany was baptized first by Elder Taylor and the font was not very deep and the Missionaries did not coach these girls on bending their knees. So when he went to put her back, she was not about to go all the way under because it was just not possible her arm was coming up and so elder Taylor shoves her with great force to get that arm to go all the way down so it looks like he's abou to drown her. Then elder Bright gets poor little Madi in there and same thing he doesn't coach her to bend her knees and so she doesn't go down all the way the first time and you could tell she was scared and anxious. So the guys watching all said have her bend her knees, but her anxiousness is already pretty heightened so when she went down, she somehow gulped in water so when she comes up, she's like gagging and choking with complete fear on her face. Rick said I sure hope she doesn't get pneumonia! So anyway these missionaries need to be better about either filling the font higher or coaching on bending their knees before!
I did love the song that we sang at the closing. It was Called welcome home and is one of our new hymns and I had never heard it before, but it was so pretty. It talks about how our churches, temples and then heaven are places of safety but the chorus between each says. "As weary travelers on life's road, When the world is dark and cold. Where'er we wander, where'er we roam, We're always welcome, welcome home.
I hope that Brittany and Madi feel that. They have not had an easy path and I hope that they feel home in our ward and loved and supported.

Not sure he is excited about it but that is what dads do. They show up for their kids when they need them!
