San Francisco Day 3
Took a boat to Alcatraz and took a tour. We wore headsets and it talked to us as we walked through. Learned about the famous inmates that were there, saw the solitary confinement sections that were so small and no light and they would keep them in total darkness. One inmate would take a button from off his clothes and throw it and then crawl on his hands and knees until he found it and then stand up and do it again. Another inmate said that if you closed your eyes and waited for awhile, you could see a movie play. I cannot imagine how you would not lose your mind.
Drove up to twin peaks where you could see the entire city below you. It was so bright and hurt your eyes to take pics so I am totally squinting, but it was amazing. Went to see the painted ladies which are the old Victorian homes that are painted different colors. The rest of our tour took us around to Golden Gate park which had fabulous things to see and do but we didn't have time.
Ready for our tour!
Paul had a goal of eating four meals a day and try as we might we only got two or three. This last day we ate at this amazing chicken wing place and then went to the Italian quarter for the best pizza in the land so we were told. I didn't find it that great but the guys liked it.
Morgan told us we had to try the horchata from Boba Guys and that we had to make sure it had the little round balls. It was her favorite thing and she got one everyday. We were excited and waited in line for around 20 minutes. This pic is before we tried it. Oh my heavens those little balls tasted like dirty socks and you would chew and chew them and they never seemed to get smaller. So yuck Rick actually liked the drink part so he drank mine thank goodness.
We had such a fun time and it was the perfect amount of days to be gone. Our kids all did great and my house was in pretty good condition. Barret, Wyatt and pup Fritz spent the night Friday and the boys all drove to San Antonio to Comicon event. I guess it was huge and they saw several actors. We actually made it home before they did and I was greeted by three very excited pups. Rick had to run off to the chili cook off and trunk or treat but I opted to stay home and chill.
