Beautiful Life

Woke up to this Monday morning and the pictures do not do it justice.  I loved church today and in gospel principles we were talking about prayer.   One member shared that one of their sons was just struggling on  his mission and there had been calls from the mission president and stake president to discuss what to do.  The parents were praying for this son fervently and after one prayer that dad said he heard the words in his mind. "It will all be okay" .  This son came home from his mission and continued to struggle for the next ten years, but the parents said they hung on to that phrase like an anchor and finally this son's life has completely turned around.   I really needed to hear that.  After church, Rick had a couple hours before his first tithing settlement so we headed down to the children's hospital to check in on the baby.  He looked so good and the first procedure went well although they did have to bag him a couple times when he stopped breathing.  He had his open heart surgery yesterday and it went super well.  They say there will be complications because there always are in these types of situations and time will tell about brain function since he had moments of not getting oxygen or limited amounts before they discovered a problem.  Then after tithing settlements we had been invited over to the Winegars.  He has served in YM and really hit it off with Blake.  He is a dentist and a "cool" guy.  He has four girls and just had a little boy which he was desperate  for.  They are amazing cooks and we had an Argentine meal.  He had told Rick a couple weeks ago that he missed Blake and I am not sure if that is why he invited us over.  The oldest girl is 10 and they were a little bashful around the boys and it was cute.  At the end Blake walked over to Katherine and gave her a side hug and thanked her and then gave Trevor a big bear hug.  It just made me so grateful that I am not alone in raising my children but others care about them.  Another cool thing is that Brother Upham knew Blake has been trying to get a job.  This new grocery store is opening up and had a job fair Saturday morning.  Blake was taking the ACT and could  not go so Brother Upham went to the job fair to get info for Blake.  While he was going through the process, one of the managers came right up to him and wanted to hire him on the spot as a manger. He is  a very professional, good looking man who is retired.  He had no intention when he went there to get a job, but he agreed to work 15 hours a week.  So funny.  He brought all the info to Blake yesterday and so he applied online and will go in after school today so we will see.  I just am so grateful that these men will take time out of their lives to be interested in my son.  I hope Blake will  always remember them!

Caden thinks he did ok on the ACT but he ran way out of time on the math.  He said it wasn't hard but going fast is his biggest struggle.  We didn't send these scores in but wanted to have him have  a practice.  He now knows what to expect and can hopefully pace himself better in the spring.  Blake only took it once and he will not do it again he informed me.  We get scores in a few weeks and that will help Caden know what he needs to do for the next one as well.  One of the Winegars nieces that live in Dallas and is a junior came to visit and she really liked the looks of Caden.  Katherine was saying we may need to set them up sometime.  He is such a cute, fun kid but as of yet no interest in dating and quite frankly I am ok with that!  Caden has enjoyed the freedom of driving himself around.  He doesn't go too far yet but taking himself to tennis lessons, young mens, school, seminary is getting him some solid practice!

Sounds like wonderful men who really care and that does make a difference! Tanners scores were not pretty but he also was only willing to take it once. He said he is going to a school with 100% acceptance rate so he wasn't going to worry about it. Hopefully his information is accurate and won't change in the next two years! Hope Blake gets the job. I also haven't pushed Tanner with dating. He feels it's pointless since there is nothing you can do with it right now and I'm good with that too. After the mission they will have plenty of time to figure that all out!
