Easter Annual Treasure Hunt

Easter 2016
Well, this year home is down to only two
So don't beat each other black and blue
And don’t be sad if you don’t get much
Happiness doesn’t come from such and such
True joy comes from knowing who you are
Your Spirit comes from a far off star
Were you lived with Parents who let you go
So you could face your fears and grow
But, lets have some fun for just a bit
And run around to see if you’re fit
To find a prize, or win a game
When you cry big tears, it means you’re lame
Lets start now where I’m sure you have seen
The jumping toy that rhymes with lima bean

This first one is for Caden Vance
Who thinks he’s a ninja in pajama pants
He has a dozen blades to slit your throat
Nearly all his savings does he devote
His closet is an ancient armory
With his first true love of archery
Under his bed more weapons you’ll find
If you reach under there, keep that in mind
Once in a while, with a clang or a clank
He can be heard throwing knives at a plank
Practice makes perfect, just paying your dues
When you throw knives, make sure you wear shoes

Now lets talk about middle-named Jesse
That guy’s room is a bit messy
He wishes his name was Nathan Drake
But instead of that we call him Blake
He imagines himself running through the woods
Shooting up all the villains and the hoods
Pulling new guns from the mystery box
Scaling the walls and shooting off locks
He has an alter ego, a second life
Whose glorious exploits and digital strife
Are found in the circuits in a plastic case
Might find a hint for the current race

This one goes out to the one I love
She was my gift from Heaven above
Sometimes as sweet as honey can be
But when she gets mad, she can be feisty
So don’t be a pest or tell her big lies
You’ll be caught in the stare of the angry eyes
But her heart is so tender, she can’t deny
A story of mercy will cause her to cry
She likes bright and light in recent décor
Not the passé Tuscan now to abhor
She’s the bomb our sweet Lammyfur
Warm, kind, and loving, and sometimes demure
So look round with care in her favorite place
And you might find a hint to continue the race

She rules the roost, always gets her way
Once in a while she likes to play
When her hair is long, each fuzzy lock
She looks a bit like a little ewok
Running the yard like a little hare
Or sleeping so quiet she’s hardly there
Just give her a rub on the hoary head
Or chase her under her favorite bed
Or maybe the spot from there to observe
The world beyond her tiny reserve

This little pest is a hideous beast
Would give up your life for part of a feast
He sheds enough mane to make a small coat
We are trading him in for a fish or a goat
Each year he gets bigger, uglier too
Stuck in the door like Winnie the Pooh
Such an annoyance, with ticking of feet
He gets in a panic if you say the word treat

Well this guy is father of our merry band
Good thing he has sweet-cheeks holding his hand
Writing a poem about him is really a test
It might not be cool to call yourself the best
A closet full of toys he keeps to himself
Stuff he hardly uses filling each shelf
Then a new backpack for every endeavor
Ask him about it, he’ll just say ‘whatever’
I guess he’ll be ready for the end of the world
Or for disaster whenever unfurled
You can’t take it with you, bear that in mind
When you look for the next clue seek and you’ll find

This guy had a question to take to the Lord
To know which church was teaching his word
Went to the woods, to some sacred grove
And unleashed a flood, revelation treasure trove
The restoration they call it, truth to restore
Some parts were lost, they’d been here before
To know more about it, you might want to look
Round about the library for a certain book
I can’t tell you the title for what you are trolling
Just think of the subject as you’re patrolling

We miss our girls during holiday fun
Both the strait haired brunette and the curlier one
We wish they were here to join in the race
With a quizzical look, and a cherubic face
But they’re off at school, to learn and prepare
To take on the world and see how they fare
One wants to care for patients I’ll wager
The other an English or history major
Looking for men, for worse or for better
Lets sit down and write them a letter

Remember Why we run this race
Remember Who, we seek his face
Remember that He paid the price
Remember He brings paradise
Seek Him as you sought these gifts
And he will heal your pains and rifts
Release you from the bonds of prison
For on this day, He is risen
